Westhouses Primary School
The infant class have been learning about celebrations and as part of this topic they enjoyed a trip to Westhouses Methodist Chapel. They learnt about the different festivals and celebrations that take place in the chapel including baptisms, communion and weddings. The children also had fun with a game to find out how many crosses, doves, candles and bibles they could find in the church.
They have also been learning about fire safety and will be having a trip to Alfreton Fire Station to learn about the work of the fire brigade.
Some of the junior children will be representing the school in a cross country event on 25th March against schools from the Tibshelf cluster of schools.
This race is to be held on Westhouses recreation ground. Prior to the event taking place Bolsover District Council rangers/dog wardens have kindly agreed to clear the park and the grass verge on Tibshelf Road of dog foul. They will also be carrying out a litter pick with the assistance of some of the school children.
The Bolsover District Council Rangers have also been into the school to talk to the children about the issue of dog fouling. The children have taken part in a competition to design a poster to make dog owners aware of the problem and the need to clean up after their dog. The District Council has provided prizes for the winners of this competition.
